White Whispers

Summer Night by Albert Bloch 1913

Streams
of white whispers
swirl about.
Listen.
Listen to the night
as waves of pure light
bathe the shadows of the day.
She calls my name,
tempts me
with lazy days
and eternal warmth.
Look.
Look at her grace
as she roams around
in glorious garb,
extending her hand,
reaching out,
reaching out,
to a world lost in its mire.

This poem was inspired by the painting above, “Summer Nights” by Albert Bloch 1913
I’m not sure what this painting represents but this is what I saw.

  1. I felt a quiet whisper, too, as I read it just like journey into poetry did. It is such a beautiful poem. I haven’t been here for awhile and I’m so glad I did visit. You always have a softness to your words. Just lovely ….!!!!

    • Thanks for your kind words Isadora. You’re always so supportive. I haven’t been writing much this year due to commitments but am trying to get back into it. Thanks for stopping by. It’s always appreciated πŸ™‚

  2. Beautifully expressed words in response to the painting. I love the theme of ‘reaching out.’ Reaching out is a good thing to think about as we begin a new year. Happy new Year to you.

  3. really a rather enchanting verse…i wonder whether to give in to her temtation and at what she has to offer….makes for a beautiful dance though…smiles…

  4. Im sure im probably wrong…but this made me think about mother nature.. how she gets ignored these days (well, these modern times)….the world is indeed lost in its mire
