Whispers

My precious child,
I see your face,
Content in animated play.
Sit still by me;
I’ll slow my pace,
Let’s capture rich moments today.

If I should blink,
You’ll slip away,
So I’ll store kisses in a jar.
Lock in my heart,
The sweetest hugs,
While whispered fate lures from afar.

This poem is about missing soft kisses, hugs and giggles and that time when the world was a special place. You hear it hundreds of times “enjoy them while you can, they grow up quickly”. It’s true.

    With children our pace must be slow to capture the rich moments.

  4. As I get older…heaven’s womb seems to be drawing back.
    Thank you for this wonderful piece…about, as I read it, a path we begin on and never leave. From birth to giving birth.

    • Good question 🙂 Actually the second and fifth line rhyme in the first verse was unintentional, but the the third and sixth line rhyme in both verses was intentional. Thanks for reading 🙂

  5. I love this poem. After reading it I was sat deep in thought, thinking about my own children and how quickly they are growing. Time with them is precious and the ultimate gift.
